Mac McRyan is back in a pulse pounding thriller that will have you on edge from the very start.

Dictionary definitions vary, but retribution is typically defined as: Punishment imposed for purposes of repayment or revenge for the wrong committed. For Smith, parked with his crew and waiting behind a small St. Paul bistro, retribution simply meant payback. He’d waited sixteen years for it and now he was three hours away from starting to get it.

And so starts Deadly Stillwater, where Mac McRyan is confronted with the kidnapping of Shannon Hisle, taken in a brazen daylight attack outside a restaurant on one of St. Paul’s busiest streets. And Shannon Hisle isn’t just anyone. She’s the only daughter of St. Paul’s most prominent, successful and politically connected lawyer. Mac knows that every political lever will be pulled, that the FBI will be coming in, that the St. Paul Mayor, not his biggest fan, will be scrutinizing his every move and that the media storm will be every bit as intense as the heat wave blazing the Twin Cities. What’s more, while all of the signs point to a straightforward kidnapping for ransom, Mac’s instincts tell him otherwise, especially after the kidnappers call just hours after the abduction and skip the ransom demand. “Why not ask for the ransom?” he wonders.

While everyone assumes the ransom demand will come soon enough, the failure to make the demand gives Mac pause, and for good reason. For the Hisle abduction is just the beginning in a case of betrayal and revenge sixteen years in the making that will ultimately strike at the heart and soul of the St. Paul Police Department.

From the searing streets of St. Paul to the icy shores of Lake Superior in Duluth; from the rolling country side of western Wisconsin to the murky waters of the St. Croix, Deadly Stillwater is a non-stop four-day rush you won’t be able to put down until its last thrilling minute.
